Top 35 Remaining Uncommitted 2017 Football Prospects (as of 11/27/16).

  1. Dallas Hobbs – Cedar Rapids (IA) / Deerfield Academy – U Conn –  DE / TE – Standing 6’5″ and 240 pounds, Hobbs is an athletic defensive end with both size and speed. Hobbs sets the edge well and can track down running backs or put pressure on the quarterback with excellent hand and arm technique. Hobbs has offers from Army, U Conn, Toledo, Dartmouth, Brown, Fordham, Holy Cross and Lafayette while also receiving interest from Columbia, Pitt and UNH.
  2. Coby Tippett – Xaverian (2016) Cheshire Academy – Uncommitted – DB / WR / KR – Tippet is a football player and a game changer. His father is in the NFL Hall of Fame and although he did not get his father’s size he did get his football ability. Tippet did it all at Xaverian Brothers HS last year and was easily one of the best players in the state. Tippet has no formal offers but he will play big time football. Tippet visited Alabama, Georgia and Auburn over the summer and is also close to Iowa as it is his Father’s alma-mater. Tippet is a player that will contribute at the next level with the only question being where he will land. Update: Visited Penn St. University and being recruited by Rutgers, Boston College, Maine, Stony Brook, University of Albany and Delaware. Offered by Maine, and Towson  on 11/29/16, 11/30/16.
  3. AJ Ryan – Xaverian – Uncommitted – MLB / TE – Was a second Xaverian to Brown commit and will be a physical linebacker at the next level. For Xaverian he also plays TE but at 6’2″ and 230 pounds he lacks the traditional size to play TE at the Division 1 level and will either focus on defense or play an H-Back type position. Update: Recently de-committed from Brown University, Interest from Princeton, Dartmouth and Colgate.
  4. Scott Murphy – Billerica HS – Uncommitted – DE / TE – Murphy started playing football as a junior and broke out last season recording 14.5 sacks. Murphy and has received offers from Bryant, Marist, Bucknell and with his stellar play look for Murphy to pick up bigger FCS offers or take a prep year and look to play FBS football. Either way, Murphy is a tremendously talented prospect as a DE/OLB. Committed to Army.
  5. Kevin Mensah – Holy Name, Shepard Hill HS – Uncommitted – RB – Mensah is one of the biggest names in the state but is having a rocky senior season. The MIAA had suspended Mensah for transferring schools and this forced Mensah to go to court so he could play for Shepherd Hill. Mensah now has a limited opportunity to impress coaches for a Division 1 offer. Mensah is a great talent and unfortunately the MIAA caused him to have a rocky beginning to his senior year. Mensah has one FCS offer from Bryant but give him some time on the field behind a good O-line and the offers could be rolling in by the end of the season. Look for Mensah to pick up several FCS offers and for U Michigan or BC to offer Mensah as they have both shown interest. Preferred walk-on offer from Michigan.
  6. Alex Claudio – Putnam High School / Wilbraham and Monson Academy – Uncommitted– DB – A playmaker who stands 6’0″ and 180 pounds Claudio was all NEPSAC first team as a junior. Also a wrestler, he currently holds offers from Bryant and Central Connecticut with interest from other schools including Holy Cross. Update: Claudio holds offers from Bryant, Sacred Heart, Central Connecticut and Georgetown with strong interest from University of Albany.
  7. Duval Paul – Everett HS – Uncommitted – DT / DE – A physical presence on defense Paul stands 6’2″ and 245 pounds while running a sub five forty yard dash. Uses his speed and strength to dominate in the trenches and recently picked up an offer from Lafayette and should receive more interest from FCS or possibly FBS after a strong senior year and a looming test against Xaverian and their recruited D1 linemen in the Division 1 Super Bowl. 12/4/16 Paul received an offer from Sacred Heart.  Committed to Georgetown.
  8. Mehki Henderson – Xaverian – Uncommitted – DB / WR – Henderson is a four year starter at Xaverian and has been a part of two consecutive state championships playing as a lockdown corner. He holds three FCS offers from CCSU, Sacred Heart and Bryant. It will be interesting to see where Henderson ends up and would not be surprised if a FBS team picks him up as a great football player who may lack ideal size or speed.
  9. Mark Mulvaney – Holliston HS – Uncommitted– OL – Mulvaney is one of the state’s best offensive lineman. A strong and sturdy athlete, Mulvaney has been offered by Columbia. Mulvaney will play at the next level and is similar to former Marshfield player Shane Leonard who is currently a BC offensive lineman.
  10. Austin Pyne – Cushing / Lawrence Academy-Uncommitted– C / G – Pyne stands 6’4″ and 280 pounds and is an interesting case as his recruitment appeared to be on the rise when he had said he was offered by Auburn University last year. He has since been offered by Villanova and Sacred Heart. If the offer from Auburn is still on the table one would expect Pyne to take it but only the future will tell.
  11. Sherron Dailey-Harris – Melrose HS / Lawrence Academy – UNH – CB / WR – A good athlete who also plays basketball, Daley-Harris stands 6’0″ and 180 pounds. A playmaker on both sides of the ball but will probably be looked at on the defensive side of the ball as a result of his 4.6 forty speed. Has received an offer from UNH and has had interest from FCS schools such as Villanova. Update: Has interest from BC, U Conn, U Mass, Syracuse, Rutgers, URI and Stony Brook.    12/11/16 Committed to UNH.
  12. Devin DeMeritt– Duxbury HS – Uncommitted – RB/WR- DeMeritt is an interesting case. He missed his junior season and now in his senior campaign is clearly one of the top offensive weapons in the state. DeMeritt runs well but he really excels in the receiving game where he has been huge considering the impact of Duxbury having lost Harvard commit WR Ryan Reagan to an injury. With a 40 time in the mid 4.5 range and a 6’1” frame, DeMeritt’s offensive production should be something that draws interest from local colleges.
  13. Declan Burt – Saint John’s Prep – Uncommitted – TE / DE – Has offers from Columbia and Bryant. Another athletic TE/DE combination, has good blood lines with his brother a TE at Boston College. It is unsure if he will be a pass catcher or disruptive defensive player at the next level.
  14. Sharif Harris-Legree – Cardinal Hayes HS (NY) / Deerfield Academy – Uncommitted – QB- Harris-Legree is lanky at 6’3″ and only 188 pounds but is a solid pocket passer that uses his feet well. Avoids pocket pressure well and an accurate passer that can put the ball on his receivers hands. Harris-Legree has an offer from Grambling University and has had interest from U Conn, Rutgers and Boston College.
  15. Sam Laurent – Xaverian – Uncommitted – Laurent has come late to the scene but is a presence at 6’3” WR/DB and reportedly runs a sub 4.5 forty with a 33” vertical. Laurent plays for Xaverian and if he does well down the stretch to the playoffs he could receive a late offer. If not, Laurent could prep or choose to play at a level less than FBS/FCS. Update: Laurent received an offer from Holy Cross (with a visit on December 9th) and has interest from Brown, Columbia, U Penn, Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut. Added offers from Colgate, Dartmouth and UConn.
  16. Anthony Dandini – Leominster HS- Uncommitted – OLB / FB – Dandini picked up his first offer from Bryant but has not yet committed. He plays well as an aggressive OLB/FB. At the college level he will most likely play OLB on defense but with the infusion of H-back’s into college offenses he could also play on the offensive side of the ball.
  17. Broghean McGovern – Haverhill HS – Uncommitted – McGovern is a 6′ 5″ QB and picked up an offer from Bryant last winter. McGovern is in a run heavy offense with limited plays to prove he is worthy of a scholarship offer. Colleges love size especially at the QB position and McGovern will definitely get a flyer taken on him at the FCS level.
  18. Coreese Everett – Springfield Central HS –Uncommitted – WR / SS – A versatile athlete at 5’10” and 180 pounds who is dynamic in open space and reportedly runs a 4.4 forty. Everett and fellow teammate Walker are a dynamic duo and should expect Everett to get FCS looks after his season as he has picked up an offer from Maine.
  19. Diogo DeSousa – Mansfield HS – Uncommitted – K / P – At 5’11” and 180 pounds DeSousa has a strong leg in all aspects of the kicking game. Excels at kickoffs by reaching the end zone and by not having kicks returned. Solid punter and place kicker he has drawn interest from Division 1 colleges.
  20. Colin Lama – Xaverian – Uncommitted – OLB – At 6’0″ and 215 pounds he is a key player in the Hawk’s defense for the past two seasons. Lama is a physical beast and plays like a man among boys against top teams in the state. He lacks ideal size but is a smart player and could play at either FCS or Division 2 level.
  21. Hayden Rockett – St. John’s Prep HS – Uncommitted – WR / DB – Rockett stands 5’11” and 195 pounds and plays on both sides of the ball. An elusive wide receiver who runs crisp routes and has excellent hands. Also very productive on the defensive side with good instincts leading to interceptions. His older brother Owen is a wide receiver on the Colgate football team.
  22. David Salazar -Newton North HS – Uncommitted– DE / OLB – Salazar is an excellent competitor on the field although a bit undersized for the DE position standing 6’1″ and 210 pounds. Salazar would excel as an OLB allowing him to have an opportunity to show his great motor and his reported 4.8 forty speed with great tackling ability. Salazar is also a wrestler and would be a great pick-up for a local school.
  23. Patrick Watson – Boston College High School – Uncommitted – OL Watson is a beast in the MIAA. His size and athleticism are huge plusses to have as a tackle in high school. While no offers have been extended his way, he has interest from BC, UMASS and FCS schools. Watson is definitely someone who will play college football at a high level at either guard or tackle.
  24. TJ Rothmann– Boston College HS – Uncommitted – MLB/FB – At 6’3” and 215 pounds, Rothmann is a big and athletic middle linebacker that diagnoses plays well and uses his speed to impact the opponent’s run game. On offense Rothmann is used as a FB often getting goal line carries and is a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. Rothmann should get some interest after the season or prep for another year of development.
  25. Spencer Kendall – Lexington HS – Uncommitted– A 6’5” WR has benefitted from the Lexington run and gun offense under Sal Frelick. Kendall is a WR with a big frame but needs to add muscle, bulk up and add explosiveness. A prep year would do wonders for Kendall who could see his stock soar towards the like of Belmont Hill’s junior WR Jake Bobo.
  26. Derek Laundry – Billerica HS –Uncommitted – At 5’10” and 215 pounds Laundry is a fast and powerful FB/LB workhouse for Billerica on both offense and defense. He is a good athlete and will play football in college.
  27. Jack Barrett – Holliston HS – Uncommitted – ATH – Barrett has been a constant presence in the Holliston offense for a while and has led his team to many wins along the way. Barrett has mostly played QB at Holliston but will have to translate to another position at the next level. At 6’3” and 200 pounds, an athletic Barrett could translate to either receiver or linebacker. Update: Committed to Trinity to play football.
  28. Freddy Okito – Milton Academy – Uncommitted – WR / CB / ATH – Okito is a bit small at 5’9″ and 170 pounds but he is a fast wide receiver that makes his presence felt. Okito is a player that is very good in space and has a solid set of hands to make catches and with 4.5 speed could find a place at a local college. Update UNH making a strong push and could offer within the next few days.
  29. Tank Walker – Springfield Central HS- Uncommitted – QB / CB – At 6’3″ and 180 pounds Walker is a high flying QB at the high school level but Walker’s future most likely lies on the defensive side of the ball. Look for Walker to pick up FCS offers after the season.
  30. Max Beati – Andover HS –Uncommitted – OL – Beati has size at 6′ 8″ and over 300 pounds so colleges love his build. Beati recently visited Yale and look for him to find a home to play college football by the end of this year.
  31. Adam Billard-Sandwich HS / Tabor-Uncommitted–  QB – Standing 6’3’’ and 215 pounds, Billard had received interest from the University of Virginia and BC. After a successful senior season leading Tabor to a bowl title, Billard may receive an offer from an FCS or division Two school.
  32. Ben Murphy – Newton North HS / Bridgton Academy – Uncommitted – DT / DE – At 6’2’’ and 287 pounds Murphy is a force in the middle of the defensive line. Murphy can hold down the middle of the D-line while also being a physical presence that goes after the QB. Murphy is a former basketball player and is an athletic DT who has received interest from University of Virginia and Maine along with some other schools around the Northeast.
  33. Connor Cady-Boston College High School- ATH – Uncommitted– Cady is a 5’11” and 165 pound high school quarterback who excelled running the ball and gave defenses fits with his speed. Given his size and speed, Cady could transition to a slot receiver at the next level.
  34. Niadre Zouzoua-Brockton / Bridgton Academy- DE- Uncommitted– At 6’5’’ and 225 pounds Zouzoua reportedly runs a 4.50 forty yard dash. Zouzoua is athletically gifted with his brother also playing basketball at Bryant University. With this size and speed (and being relatively young in a football sense) Zouzoua could get a flyer taken on him at the FCS level.
  35. Jeff Wolff– Boston College High School- DT/DE – Uncommitted– Wolff stands 6’6” and 250 pounds and is a physical force in the middle of the defensive line. Wolff played at a very high level against some of the top teams in the state this year. With his size and experience it is hard to imagine that Wolff will not get a shot to play college football somewhere.

  1. James LoChirco should without a doubt be on this list. Has an offer from Bryant and Still getting interest from UNH as well as having had contact with Fordham, Central Connecticut and others over the last week or so. He’s flying under the radar big time because of the school he played at. Someone is going to get very lucky when he commits.

  2. You mentioned Laramee and Mulvena from Shrewsbury in your d2 championship preview and they are without a doubt two of the most underrated backers in the state. Both led a defense that smothered Cmass opponents all year. Based off his twitter Mulvena receiving D1 interest as well
