Four star RB/LB recruit AJ Dillon recently announced on Twitter that he would take an official visit to Boston College. Having already committed to Michigan, this raises some interesting questions about where Dillon will ultimately play football in college. The key issue comes down to which side of the ball Dillon will play on and how quickly he wants to get out on the field. Boston College provides the much better path if Dillon wants to play at the running back position and if he wants to play immediately as he would be a top recruit for Head Coach Steve Addazio and Boston College as they try and turn things around over at the Heights. Dillon has been heavily recruited as a linebacker by top schools including Michigan, Penn State and Virginia but he might be looking to stay as a running back and find that his best path for that would be by going to Boston College. The other huge upside for BC in getting Dillon to flip from Michigan would be the message it would send to other top Mass recruits including Dillon’s Lawrence Academy teammates Finn Dirstine (the top ranked 2018 offensive lineman) and Ryan Betro (one of the top ranked 2018 defensive linemen). Dillon could be a game changer for BC if he could influence other top local prospects to follow his lead to Chestnut Hill. Coach Addazio definitely needs to produce and to do so he will need the top players in Massachusetts to stay home so getting top prospects like Dillon, Dirstine and Betro would be a major step in the right direction for the Boston College football program.
