The Mashpee Falcons went 12-1 this past football season and made it all the way to the Division 4 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium where they beat Wahconah Regional 34-13 to win the state title. A big part of their success was sophomore Devaun Ford who stands 5’10” and 175 pounds and was the leader on offense and special teams for the high scoring Falcons. Ford can line up as an elusive running back, a very good wide receiver and he even occasionally throws out of the backfield. On special teams he is a dynamic playmaker on both punt and kickoff returns. Although his favorite sport is football, Ford is also a very good basketball player and Mashpee has had an excellent season on the court as they are currently 14-2 with three games left on their schedule. Away from sports Ford likes to play Madden and he likes to listen to music by Kodak Black. Ford lines up wherever his coach wants him to play but he likes the rush of returning kicks against an entire team trying to track him down. He says he would like to see Mashpee return to the Super Bowl next season to try and make it three state titles in a row for the Falcons. With two more years of football still ahead of him look for Mashpee’s Devaun Ford to be a top player in the Massachusetts class of 2019 and he is a name that will draw interest from college football programs.
