MIAA Top 25 Basketball – Week 11 (2/27/17)


  1. Cambridge Rindge and Latin (19-0) – Cambridge boasts an undefeated record along with DCL co-MVPs in Dimon Carrigan and Jakigh Dottin plus three all-stars in Kareem Octavian, Daniel Rymer and Aidan Keefer.
  2. Mansfield High School (20-2) – Sam Goldberg and the Hornets look poised to make a deep run in the state tournament.
  3. Boston College High School (18-2) – Travis Evee, Carl Pierre and the rest of the Eagles played well under pressure as they battled back against Newton North.
  4. Everett High School (17-2) – The Tide look forward to a playoff run that could include rival Malden and a possible showdown with Cambridge.
  5. Franklin High School (18-4) – Connor Peterson, Paul Mahon and Josh Macchi look to lead the Panthers to a championship.
  6. Saint John’s Shrewsbury (17-3) – The Pioneers front court and Alex Bradley are well prepared to enter postseason play.
  7. Catholic Memorial High School (15-5) – The Knights are getting hot at the right time and they have played an extremely tough schedule.
  8. Brighton High School (17-5) – The time has come for the Boston City League champions to display their full potential in the postseason.
  9. Arlington High School (19-1) – The Spy Ponders are coming off an extremely successful regular season and will look to carry this into the postseason.
  10. Saint John’s Preparatory School (16-5) – The Eagles have the talent to give Cambridge a run for their money and have been playing well recently.
  11. Needham High School (17-5) – Rebounded from an earlier loss to Newton North to lead the season series 2-1 with a possible fourth game in the playoffs.
  12. Newton North High School (16-6) – Ethan Wright will shoulder the load for the Tigers in the upcoming playoff dance.
  13. Central Catholic High School (17-5) – A close loss to Cambridge shows the Raiders can be a threat heading into the tournament.
  14. Falmouth High School (16-2) – The Clippers look to capture a second state championship at their school behind Duke Melton and Eli Harris
  15. New Mission (15-7) – Despite the seven losses the Titans look to be a favorite in the Division 2 playoffs.
  16. Springfield Central High School (16-2) – Central looks to be one of the best teams in western Mass.
  17. Lowell High School (15-5) – Alex Rivera looks to lead Lowell deep into the postseason after a solid regular season.
  18. O’Bryant High School (15-5) – Rivaldo Soares is set to bring O’Bryant deep into the playoffs.
  19. Lynn Classical (18-3) – The Spartans look to contend in the Division 2 North bracket after playing a good regular season schedule.
  20. Bridgewater-Raynham High School (16-4) – EJ Dambreville and the Trojans have a solid seed going into the playoffs.
  21. Methuen High School (14-6) – Strong guard play could propel the Rangers deep into the playoffs and could be a spoiler against higher ranked teams.
  22. Mashpee High School (17-3) – Devaun Ford and Mashpee could be a dangerous team in the south.
  23. North Attleboro (15-7) – Jonny Friberg and Brent Doherty look to lead NA to a successful playoff run.
  24. Tech Boston (15-5) – The Bears come off a close loss to Brighton for the BCL Championship.
  25. Brookline High School (13-7) – Chris Camille and the Warriors are very capable of making some noise in the playoffs.
