Dimon Carrigan of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School stands 6’9” and 212 pounds and he is looking to help lead the Falcons to back-to-back state basketball championships. Carrigan is a senior center who was instrumental in their tournament run last year as they beat Catholic Memorial 77-73 in the Eastern Division 1 finals and then beat St. John’s Shrewsbury 66-51 to capture the state title. This year Cambridge is poised to face a very solid Everett team in the Division 1 North bracket and they would then face whichever team emerges from the very competitive Division 1 South bracket. Earlier this season Cambridge beat national powerhouse Crossroads School from California where Carrigan played very well against five star All-American Shareef O’Neal who is Shaquille O’Neal’s son. Carrigan’s play has attracted college coaches as he already holds a scholarship offer from Southern Connecticut and he has received a lot of interest from Boston College and Quinnipiac. He says he would like to play as a power forward or as a small forward at the next level. When Carrigan isn’t playing basketball he says he enjoys hanging out with family and friends and likes to go to the movies. He also likes to listen to Kendrick Lamar and play the video game Naruto. Cambridge takes on Lawrence High School tonight at 7:00 PM and then they would face the winner of Lowell vs. St. John’s Prep as they make their way through the Division 1 North field. Dimon Carrigan will play a key role in how far the Falcons go this year and following the basketball season he will look to decide upon which college program fits him best where he will represent Cambridge and Massachusetts very well.
